Day 6 EV Research
13th May 2010 - We are now on day 6 of the EV Research. We were contacted back in January via the G-Wiz Forums by a student at Durham. She is researching how an EV is used in the real world by regular users.
For the research she needs a week long diary including all our electric car use. This is our diary.
Day 6
Thursday - We are going to complete our test this morning using Drive Mode only for the school run. See day 5 for full details of the test.
The car is fully charged this morning and showing 88 miles on the tripometer. Drive mode helps the car to accelerate much faster and reach top speeds quicker. This will also drain the batteries quicker and reduce the range. On return home from the school run of 5.9 miles, the tripometer was showing 74 miles remaining.
This meant that a journey of 5.9 miles used 14 miles of range. Yesterday using Eco and Boost mode we only used a range of 5 miles. So as with any other car driving economically will give you better range.
2nd school run another 5.9 miles.
This evening I need to do the weekly shopping. The Mitsubishi i MiEV is an ideal car for shopping as it has a big enough boot space. Total journey distance 7.8 miles.
Total distance travelled to day is 19.6 miles.
