15th July 2010 - Electric Car Grants UK have been approved. Yesterday What Car? held their annual green awards. The Editor’s Award was presented to Renault-Nissan Alliance. Renault for their Fluence and Nissan for the Leaf, both of these cars will change peoples concepts of electric cars.

On the report from What Car? they have included that the £250 million of grants have been approved for this year. The financial year for the HM Treasury is April – March. This means that the £5000 grant for buying a new car should be available for the very first cars released on to the market in the UK.

As yet no official announcement has been made, but hopefully this is the start of electric cars becoming viable in the UK.
