Kids reaction to the i MiEV

Mitsubishi i MiEV rear boot space
19th May 2010 - What is the kids reaction to the i MiEV? Today I am taking my nine year old daughter and a couple of her friends on a school trip in the electric car. They are only going 8 miles away, but are staying for 2 nights.
The car is fully charged this morning. We arrive at school normal time, my daughter goes in for registration, while I go and find out how much luggage I need to take with me. When I get to the room with all the luggage, I am surprised how much some of the children are taking with them. They need their normal clothes, sleeping bag, wellington boots and packed lunch.
The Mitsubishi i MiEV has a fairly small boot, one advantage of the boot space is that the angle of the back seats can be adjusted. Setting them to a more upright position gives quite a bit more space. I manage to fit in my daughters and one of her friends luggage. Other parents have offered to take the rest of the luggage that I can not fit in.
The three girls are all in, now off we go. The first surprise to the children is that the Mitsubishi makes no noise and then I told them it runs on electricity, this gave them a shock. The comments I got were - it's wicked, cool, fast and very quiet. They were even impressed by the dial on the dashboard and that they could see what speed we were going at.
On arrival at our destination they were talking to the rest of their classmates about how 'cool' the car was.
This is a good way to get people interested in electric cars.
