Our Mitsubishi is taken back to the garage

Mitsubishi i MiEV electric car

A sad day, our i MiEV is taken back to the garage.

Yesterday our i MiEV broke down for the first time. Today I phoned Mitsubishi to let them know about the problem and was informed to contact MAP (Mitsubishi Assistance Package). I phoned MAP and explained the problem to them, they said a recovery transporter would come and collect it.

MAP arrived within the hour and had a look at the car. One of the problems is that as there is no power you cannot turn the power switch on, this means that you cannot move the i MiEV out of park mode or remove the steering lock. The only solution was to jack up the rear of the i MiEv, put the rear wheels on trolleys and winch it onto the recovery transporter. This was a bit of a pain as we first needed to push it off the drive way and around 90 degrees to get to the recovery vehicle. The other problem was that as the steering lock was on while winching the car it kept moving to one side rather than going straight. The driver had to keep pushing the car to the right direction.

The Mitsubishi i MiEV has now gone and we are only left with our petrol car.

Return from our Mitsubishi is taken back to the garage to electric car blog page.
