TATA Expansion in Coventry

TATA Indica Vista EV
with Angela Boxwell
An announcement has been made of the TATA expansion in Coventry. TATA have been working alongside the Warwick Manufacturing Group for 5 years. They have a research and development centre in the University of Warwick employing over 200 staff. The most recent announcement is to recruit a further 100 employees in the next 2 years.
Last week TATA announced the opening of their new factory based in Coventry which employs 23 staff. The factory builds the TATA Indica Vista EV. They receive the main shell from TATA in India and have to drop the chassis, add batteries, motor and controller. They also complete some of the final interior, set the car up and test it.
In an interview with the BBC, a representative from TATA talked about their new electric car the Pixel "Designed by young people in Coventry for the mass market of the world." This is excellent news for both the electric car and manufacturing in Coventry.
