Without our Mitsubishi i MiEV
19th August 2010 - We are without our Mitsubishi i MiEV again. We came back from our 2 weeks on holiday in Wales to find that the 12 volt auxiliary battery is flat. This is the third time that the auxiliary battery has caused us problems with the car. After driving our petrol car for 2 weeks we were looking forward to getting back into our electric car.
When we tried to unlock the i MiEV, it would not unlock using the remote unit, so we had to use the key. We were then unable to do anything else in the car. When the auxiliary battery is flat you can not get the car out of park position and the steering lock is stuck on.
We contacted the Mitsubishi Assistance Package (MAP) and arranged for the car to be collected. The car was collected within 1 1/2 hours and taken back to our local Mitsubishi garage. The garage has since confirmed that they are replacing the auxiliary battery and will then perform a few tests to ensure that the battery is not being drained.
Hopefully we will get the car back tomorrow and will be able to enjoy our electric car again.
